Accabonac Harbor Storm Water Remediation
The Town will design and construct several storm water abatement projects within the Accabonac Harbor Watershed. The goal of these projects is to reduce the number of pollutants that enter the watershed. The storm water projects comply with recommendations and action items contained within the Peconic Estuary Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan and will assist the Town in complying with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) permit.

Army Corps of Engineers Lake Montauk Harbor Inlet Dredging
This federal project calls for dredging the inlet to increase its depth and width. The dredged sediment will be deposited along the shoreline west of the inlet.

The Town of East Hampton will complete a Coastal Assessment Resiliency Plan (CARP) that examines erosion risks, storm vulnerability, and expected degree of natural recovery.

Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4)
In the spring of 2009 the Town of East Hampton was notified by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) that the Town would be covered under what is called an MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) permit issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and administered by NYSDEC.

Septic Incentive Program
August 8, 2017 the East Hampton Town Board adopted legislation that will require all new home construction and new commercial development to use Suffolk County's new low-nitrogen waste systems. In addition, the Town Board adopted legislation to establish an incentive to existing property owners throughout Town to replace their septic systems with low-nitrogen systems by offering a rebate of up to $16,000.00 for all property owners.

Springs Fireplace Road Corridor Study
The Study is an intensive evaluation of the traffic, land use and environmental issues affecting Springs Fireplace Road and the surrounding area. Through collection and analysis of existing conditions, projected buildout conditions and issues facing the area, a plan to improve the functionality and visual character of the area while also reducing potential environmental threats will be developed.
