Because You Asked ... What's With All the Construction at Town Hall?
The old Town Hall building, which has been empty since 2010 when town offices moved into the new Town Hall constructed of preserved historic buildings donated to the Town, was deemed unsalvageable at that time. The building dates from the 1960s, and was in bad repair. With its condition deteriorating, Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc initiated efforts to get the building demolished.
Utilities have been disconnected, and water and communications lines rerouted. The building will be taken down during the week of August 5, 2019. Trees and bushes surrounding it are to be preserved.
Please pardon any inconvenience while this work takes place. After the building is demolished, the site will be restored with clean fill, and grass planted. It will be available for any future additions to the Town Hall campus.
