Kathee Burke-Gonzalez

Having first been elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017, Councilwoman Kathee Burke-Gonzalez has had the honor and privilege of serving the people of East Hampton. One of the things she is most proud of is how she has worked with her colleagues on the Town Board to return civility, dignity and respect to the business of the Board. Encouraging public participation to assist in problem solving, and restoring the community’s confidence in Town government.

Not only has the Town Board on which she serves balanced every budget, they have developed a socially responsible one and still achieved a Aaa credit rating.

It has always been Kathee’s assertion that the Town’s budget is as an “accounting” of the community’s priorities. Or put another way, a reflection of what we value. In her first term of office, the Town Board funded Meals on Wheels to ensure needy seniors would have a hot meal, expanded mental health services for our youth struggling with anxiety and depression, supported the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center and Project MOST – quality childcare and after school programs that serve as a lifeline for our families, expanded transportation services for our Veterans and our Seniors in Montauk, and began designing a new Senior Citizen Center.

As a working mother herself, she is fiercely committed to addressing the pressing needs of our children, seniors and hard working families.
